This is an asscher cut ytterbium aluminum garnet, or YbAG, which was custom grown for us. The stone weighs in at a 11.2ct and measures 10.5mm across
This is a brand new garnet which was grown for us! YbAG has been used in the laser industry but has never been publicly available to the gem world as far as we know. This crystal in particular was grown with a custom formulation to enhance and deepen its blue color, which is a vivid deep aqua. This is the first one cut, at the very least with this particular formulation.
