These are lab created laser rubies grown in the Alexandrov lab in the Soviet Union back in the 1980s.

These are pink rubies grown in the Alexandrov lab, likely meant for use in lasers though we can't be 100% sure since they did sometimes grow jewelry material as well.  Their color indicates the right dopant level for laser usage, while higher chromium concentrations are usually favored for jewelry applications.  Some stones also have colorless zones, a technique developed specifically for specialty laser rods.

Whether these were laser material or just grown to laser spec by a laser lab they cut amazing gems, with a vivid red-pink similar to that seen in classic 'Star Wars' laser rubies from the US side of the cold war.

This material cuts super bright, neon pink stones with a ton of scintillation and super bright fluorescence which gives them an extra pop. They are great for any lover of science, history or the color pink!
