Special Cerium YAG Lumogarnet Loose Faceted Stones, Orange Fluorescence

These are our special, custom grown cerium YAG with orange fluorescence.

This material was custom grown for us in an attempt to make an ultra-bright cerium yag formulation.  Our first one succeeded, but subsequent ones have had an odd result, instead showing normal (exceptional) brightness but an orange fluorescence rather than greenish-yellow.  These stones are still very beautiful though, and their unusual orange fluorescence gives them a unique look.  Note the orange shows best under 365nm UV--395 will generally just show yellow.

Cerium YAG is known for its exceptionally strong yellow fluorescence paired with its canary yellow base color.  It was actually first used as a gem before its scientific potential was recognized, leading to the development of technical-grade formulations with even brighter fluorescence.  Today it is widely used as a phosphor in LEDs, absorbing some blue light and emitting yellow which can turn a blue LED into a white one.
