These are genuine StyroPyro-grown laser rubies!  Each ruby was personally grown by Drake Anthony himself and is set in sterling silver.  Each is unique, so the shape, size and proportions vary quite a bit--pictures are just broadly representative.

Note these are not 'laser rubies' as in rubies used in lasers, but 'laser rubies' in the sense that they were produced with a laser.  Ruby is the red form of corundum, cousin to sapphire (which is corundum of any other color).  It gets its color from chromium.  Styro grew these polycrystalline rubies by hitting a powdered mixture of alumina and chromia with his new, record-breaking handheld laser gun.  Melting these oxides together produces a red and strongly fluorescent ruby, however it is not a transparent single crystal - due to the quick cooling the ruby solidifies into a polycrystalline mass of tiny crystals rather than as a single large crystal.
